JOB SUMMARY:
The R&D Technician will support medical device product development projects through preclinical studies to meet regulatory requirements for marketing approval. The R&D Technician will be responsible for performing tasks associated with design, build, testing and documentation of product development activities in accordance with project plans. This position will report directly to a Project Manager within the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform tasks associated with medical device product development including planning, execution, analysis and reporting pertaining to bench studies, animal studies, clinical studies and other testing as required by regulatory agencies (e.g., US Food & Drug Administration).
Prepare technical documents related to product development including protocols, test reports, design specifications, drawings, user manuals, etc.
Conduct experiments according to established procedures and protocols. Record data accurately and analyze results.
Support regulatory submissions by compiling technical information required for filing with regulatory agencies.
Organize and participate in project team meetings to review progress, make decisions on outstanding issues, and plan next steps.
Assist with translating scientific needs into product requirements.
Work with Product Development Engineers and Managers to develop product concepts based on customer feedback and market research.
Maintain laboratory equipment and order supplies.
May perform additional duties such as: manage inventory; conduct material analyses; maintain ISO records; assist in establishing component supplier relationships; coordinate work with outside vendors; prepare technical presentations; attend conferences; and travel as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, science or related field (Preferred).
Three years’ experience working in medical device industry preferred.
Proficient computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Office products and CAD software is desired.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
High level of attention to detail.
Capable of making independent decisions and recommendations regarding own work assignments.
Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in priorities.
Must have ability to understand complex problems, think strategically, and propose solutions.
