Position Description:

The University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work is seeking a qualified Child Welfare Clinical Specialist IV.  This position provides clinical consultation and support to Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) including regional and field staff within assigned regions regarding the implementation of behavioral health services for children and youth served by the child welfare agency.  Specifically, this position supports the implementation of statewide clinical and functional assessment and treatment planning for children with child welfare involvement. In addition, this position develops and implements training for Private Child Care and Community Mental Health Center staff regarding use of the QUALO system, functional assessment of children and youth, selection and provision of evidence-based treatment, and development of assessment-driven case planning and progress monitoring.  This position collaborates with external systems to analyze project data; develop plans to enhance the responsiveness and service delivery within the existing system of care for children and youth served by the child welfare system; and drafts reports to support related initiatives. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation and technical assistance to child welfare and behavioral health staff regarding implementation of screening, assessment, evidence-based treatment, case planning and progress monitoring.

  • Coordinate and conduct training regarding implementation of evidence-based screening, assessment, treatment, case planning and monitoring, and monitor clinician CANS certification.

  • Work with internal and external entities to plan and implement strategies to improve assessment of behavioral health needs and service delivery to children in out-of-home care.

  • Input and analyze data to monitor compliance of provider agencies in the use of the CANS and associated interventions and project outcomes, and use results in training, consultation and interagency planning and implementation activities.

  • Write reports for federal and state partners and reference materials related to project goals, implementation and programs.

Position involves regular travel including overnight stays to provide training and consultation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in social work or equivalent

  • Qualified mental health professional as defined by Kentucky Law such as possession of an LCSW.

  • Experience in providing clinical assessment and treatment in the behavioral health system.  Particularly, behavioral health treatment of children and youth are preferred. 

  • Experience working with the public child welfare system is preferred. 

  • Experience in providing training to professionals is desired

  • Clinical assessment and treatment related to trauma and behavioral health

  • Communication skills

  • Development and implementation of training for professionals

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SPSS

  • Conflict negotiation and advocacy skills

Target Compensation $ 51,700.00 to $ 63,461.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
