The role implements clinical programs and initiatives that differentiate the MDS product portfolio based on improved clinical outcomes and process enhancements which may result in a lower cost-in-use.  The expertise and credentials of the Clinical Specialist enhances the credibility of recommendations to customers and strengthens customer service and support. This support to customers is achieved through recommending best practice and facilitating education. The Clinical Specialist actively engages in conversion management, product implementation and training of Medication Delivery Solutions products.  The Clinical Specialist reports directly to a Clinical Manager.  This position is a Job Group 3.Job ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities: Ultrasound-guided vascular access device placement experience required.As directed by the Clinical Manager, the Clinical Specialist role will be focused on, but not exclusively limited to, the activities outlined below:PerformanceRegistered Nurse with a bachelor’s degree (BSN is preferred)Manages their responsibilities within the allotted T&E expense budgetProvides updates monthly to the Clinical Manager on regional training activities and support provided in region (CE courses, Assessments,Implementations, Customer Meetings, etc.) per activities delineated in the Individual Impact GoalsFacilitates customer training classes in support of conversion or retention for key customersCollaborates with the Regional Team to clinically support customer engagements from pre-sale through post-conversionDevelops strong, working relationships with end-   users while providing product in-servicing and clinical education.Provides routine follow-up support to customers at end-user locations as needed.Conducts regional training for contractual nursing support as neededWorks with CM and RBM to ensure scheduling and activities produce the greatest ROIConducts VAM assessments supporting both Vascular Care and Vascular Access sales bags.People/ ProcessAids sales personnel by building strong, working relationships with end users during product in-servicing and clinical education programs.Works in concert with the Regional Team to ensure the sales and conversion management process is clinically effective throughout the timeline of pre-validation to retentionEstablishes excellent rapport with TMs across both selling bags, RBM and CM. Works collaboratively with the Region.Collaborates with the Sales Team in key account management strategy sessionsProvides clinical support, training and education for Regional Team members as neededShares best practices with the Business, Territory Managers, ATMs, Regional Business Managers, Strategic Customer Group, Area VPs, and their counterparts as they continue to enhance MDS programs and processesProvides training activities that help increase the clinical acumen for new hires as well as tenured Territory ManagersManages the On-call Specialist (OCS) schedule to include coordination of team meetings for consistency of message and briefing of issuesHas responsibility for managing the Regional Team of per diem nurses at the account level to ensure the provision of the highest level of training to our customersTrains and mentors contract nursing staff to consistently help build their clinical acumen, while identifying high potential nurses within this group to be considered for the role of Clinical SpecialistWorks primarily in a geographically defined territory; however, based on account clinical needs, could assist outside of the regionPosition RequirementsRegistered Nurse with a bachelor’s degree (BSN is preferred)Good relationship development skillsStrong communicator with effective verbal and written skillsProven training skills to conduct educational coursesPersuasive and credible; able to influence without authorityDeals well with ambiguityPossesses strong understanding and knowledge of infusion therapy, vascular access and key disease states served by MDS productsProvides sales and customer product support for existing and prospective customersCollaborates with customers and internal staff to develop clinical materials as neededFollows corporate and divisional regulatory policies and approval metrics when creating and delivering educational materialAssists with training and orientation of new staffTravels as needed to conduct initial and ongoing training to maintain accounts in designated region and as assignedCommunicates professionally by telephone, e-mail and on-site with internal and external customersCollaborates with business units through the Clinical Manager to develop and revise marketing materialsInteracts with customer committees as requested (i.e., product, safety, infection control, policy committees)Participates in trade shows to promote the company’s product linesNetworks and participates in local, state, and national chapter affiliations (i.e., INS, ONS)Reports complaints regarding the company’s products and service per BD’s company policyWorks in a safety-conscious manner ensuring that safe work practices are utilizedComplies with company policies and proceduresAdheres to policy on drug-free workplaceMaintains confidential information including proprietary informationJob Qualifications and CompetenciesMaintains license as a Registered nurse in good standing with the Board of NursingFive (5) years of general clinical experience, including three (3) years of experience with nursing related to a MDS product.National certification recommendedAbility to travel up to 70% of the time.
