SUMMARY
The Clinical Specialist- Wound Care is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the wound and ostomy specialty programs, and education for both staff and patients. This responsibility may include participation in the recruitment, orientation, education and evaluation of PHV, and ensuring that quality patient care is delivered efficiently. Provides leadership in area of specialty for professional staff.

ATTRIBUTES
ASN degree required, BSN Degree preferred
WOCN and Home Care experience preferred
Current RN licensure in the State of New York
Wound Care Certification required, WOCNC preferred.
Valid NYS driver’s license required
RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaboration. Collaborates with the Quality Management staff to design, monitor, and participate in the continuous quality improvement process, and risk management components of their clinical program(s). Participates in the development and maintenance of current operational policies and procedures related to Specialty program(s). Collaborates with PCP’s and specialists regarding the management of their high risk wound patient.
Assessment. Perform direct/indirect care and documentation for select clients and caregivers that require specialist expertise and meets specified productivity. Provides consultation to PHV who are participating in the delivery of care and managing wound care and ostomy patients
Education. Convenes with specialty team meetings on regular basis to ensure that current and up to date information is disseminated to staff. Educates PHV as needed. Responsible for development and implementation of orientation, education, and training activities for agency staff regarding how to treat and manage patients with wound and ostomies.

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

PAY RANGE:

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
