A Day in the Life

Make an impact on patients suffering from End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD). Help improve the patient experience by educating key stakeholders at dialysis clinics – nurses, patient care technicians – on the Ellipsys™ Vascular Access System.

ESKD is a progressive disease that often results in patients needed to receive dialysis treatments for multiple hours a day, multiple days a week, for the rest of their life. Medtronic’s new Arteriovenous (AV) technologies help create and maintain the patient’s dialysis lifeline. With our growing platform of innovative tools, we are quickly becoming a recognized leader within the ESKD space.

We are looking for a remote Field Marketing Specialists who will be responsible for working within local markets to raise awareness of dialysis access therapies, including Medtronic’s Arteriovenous (AV) products. Through relationship development and in-services, this person will help dialysis centers understand the importance of and tips for proper cannulation of AV Fistula created using the Ellipsys™ Vascular Access System. This role sits within the AV Marketing team and will collaborate closely with Sales, Medical Education, and Product Management.

To be successful in this role you will need to develop comprehensive knowledge of the ESKD disease state, patient journey, dialysis access therapies, Medtronic AV therapies, and cannulation techniques – and communicate that knowledge to stakeholders within the ESKD community to support our US marketing strategy.


A day in the life
• You will provide training and education on assessing and cannulating Ellipsys fistulae to dialysis center staff.
• You will deploy marketing tactics to increase awareness and knowledge across your region, including leading in-services and training presentations at dialysis clinics and providing representation at medical society or patient events.
• You will increase market penetration for therapies that treat ESKD, including Medtronic arteriovenous therapies, by being the area expert and raising awareness on AV therapies, patient journey, patient barriers to care in the dialysis clinics, and cannulation techniques.
• You will work with the marketing team, medical affairs team, sales district managers, territory managers, and clinical specialists to execute strategies and business plans around the patient journey in the dialysis clinics.
• You will create strong relationships with relevant ESKD stakeholders in your area including Medtronic customers / treating physicians, referring physicians, and dialysis clinic personnel.
• You will become a subject matter expert on ESKD, AV therapies, the patient journey, and cannulation best practices.
• You will contribute to the creation of Field Marketing assets, including educational collateral and presentations for dialysis clinic personnel.
• You will provide monthly and quarterly summaries of your activities to the leadership team.
• You will develop quarterly business plans in partnership with the sales organization to outline local strategies, tactics, and outcomes.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers.
  • Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids.
  • Ensures training program(s) meets company and customer objectives.
  • Maintains communication with customers to ensure effectiveness of training.
  • May utilize trainers with technical expertise.
  • Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.

SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree and at least 4 years of experience in marketing, clinical, or support role (2 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree)
  • Ability to travel 75% of the time (up to every week)

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$67,200.00 - $100,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
