The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidates for the position of Medical/Clinical Specialist 1 or 2 within the Fulton County Board of Health in the Medical and Preventive Services.  

This is a full-time, grant-funded position.

Job Responsibilities


Med/Clin Spec 1 
Under supervision, learns to perform laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. Analyzes specimens, interprets, records and reports results.

Med/Clin Spec 2
Under general supervision, performs laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. Analyzes specimens, interprets, records and reports results.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results
  • Collects samples and conducts chemical analysis to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components
  • Defends, interprets and issues report on results of analysis or testing
  • Determines and maintains inventory necessary to facilitate smooth operation of the laboratory
  • Ensures compliance with State and Federal laboratory licensure requirements
  • Establishes and monitors programs to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results
  • May develop, standardize, evaluate, and/or modify procedures, techniques and tests used in the analysis and experiments
  • Monitors staff adherence to and observes principles, rules, regulations and safety precautions
  • Obtains specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying for analysis
  • Operates, calibrates, and maintains equipment used in qualitative analysis
  • Performs testing and quality assurance procedures


Minimum Qualifications


Medical/Clinical Specialist 1 Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university AND eligibility for certification OR Associate's degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university AND Two years of clinical laboratory experience.

Medical/Clinical Specialist 2 Qualifications
Associate degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Medical/Clinical Specialist 1 (LSP010) or position equivalent. Note: Must meet state clinical laboratory licensure personnel requirements as technician and federal (CLIA 88) requirement for high complexity technical clinical laboratory testing personnel
