- Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
- Licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current BLS
S19T:
For OT Clinical Specialist, must meet all qualifications noted above, as well as the following:
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a clinical resource for rehabilitation staff in a focused area of clinical expertise; plans and conducts treatment programs for patients.
- Assists management in the planning, development, organization and supervision of the specified clinical specialty area.

- Documentation of Specialist Certification.

- Evaluates new patients, sets objective measurable goals for functional outcome, establishes appropriate treatment programs, and provides documentation of same.
- Administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine the extent of patient's impairment and the prognosis for improvement.
- Performs treatment procedures, fabricates adaptive equipment/splints and adapts therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercises. Re-evaluates patients, modifies treatment plan and procedures based on patient progress.
- Provides objective, analytic documentation of patient care, patient/family education and communication with other caregivers.
- Communicates effectively with medical/ allied health personnel regarding patient progress, needs, and discharge planning.
- Provides instruction in therapeutic procedures to be continued by patient and family.
- Maintains Occupational Therapy equipment and inventory of supplies. Completes purchase orders and submits to manager for approval.
- Provides guidance and direction to Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, Aides, and affiliating students.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment programs, quality improvement initiatives, program evaluation, safety, environmental and infection control programs.
- Participates in clinical instruction of Occupational Therapy students as requested.
- Assists in training new personnel as requested by manager.
- Attends meetings as required and enhances professional growth and development through approved participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
- Maintains daily statistical record of patient activity and charges.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.
