Description

Job Summary: The primary responsibilities of the Cancer Center infusion pharmacist include clinical review of medication orders, chemotherapy checking and compounding, providing drug information support to the clinic and infusion areas, and assisting with optimization and build of the electronic medical record.  The pharmacists will also serve as a drug information and clinic resource for all oncology infusion clinics. The infusion pharmacists work closely with technical staff, nurses, mid-level providers, and physicians to meet the operational, clinical, and research needs of the infusion clinic and the comprehensive cancer center. There are opportunities for resident and student precepting as well as cross training to help cover inpatient oncology services. This position will provide support for main campus and outreach clinics.

How You’ll Impact Patient care:


Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:



  • Contributes to quality patient care by reviewing and approving medication orders, with a focus on chemotherapy, and advising healthcare professionals and patients on drug-related matters. 

  • Oversees chemotherapy pharmacy operations, providing expertise to the Cancer Care Center and internal/external customers. 

  • Identifies opportunities for cost-effective medication use, educates stakeholders, and collaborates on medication management programs. 

  • Documents interventions, cost-saving efforts, and performance improvement initiatives, supporting team goals and participating in patient safety activities.


What You Will Need:



  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is required.

  • Current state pharmacist license in good standing through North Carolina Board of Pharmacy is required or eligible for reciprocity.

  • Completion of an Oncology Residency program is required or Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy.


Nice To Have (Not Required):



  • Hospital Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ oncology experience is preferred.

  • PGY2 Oncology preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
