Cleveland Clinic’s inpatient pharmacy areas support distributive and clinical pharmacy services provided by staff pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists and pharmacy technicians, supporting 60 nursing units, 80 operating rooms, 4 PACUs, and 10 cath labs, accounting for over 1,440 inpatient beds. As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital link in moving medications throughout the facility to enhance patient care.
A caregiver in this position works variable shifts and schedules.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and provision of pharmaceutical care for patients in service responsibility in a routine, continuous manner, considering the age and clinical condition of each patient.
Provide general and patient specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses and, and other health care professionals.
Support clinical pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by direct interaction, and formal educational programs.
Maintain expertise in areas of practice through continual learning, journal review and other educational activities.
Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, post graduate trainees, allied health professionals, nurses, and physicians in pharmacotherapy within in the specialty area.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
PharmD or Bachelor's of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy and completion of a post-graduate residency or fellowship training.
Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current State within 90 days of hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire (For individuals to administer immunizations). Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA). OR certification obtained (For individuals to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events) within one year of hire. OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA). OR certification obtained (For individuals to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events) within one year of hire.

Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
Must have normal or corrected vision.
Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
