POSITION DUTIES



This full-time Medical Director position will be responsible for the psychiatric health and wellness of clients seeking care at the Health Hub and School Based Health Centers (SBHC). The Medical Director will be the primary psychiatrist providing direct clinical services to clients at the School Based Health Centers and provides oversight of other clinicians at the SBHC and Health Hub. This position will ensure the care provided to participants/clients meets the current standards of psychiatric care and is based on scientific evidence in accordance with current psychiatric practices and guidelines, applicable laws, and facility policies and procedures. The Medical Director will also ensure care is provided according to the treatment plan developed by the interdisciplinary team. This position will support the organization's mission and values and create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive, safe, and secure environment throughout the department and shift. In addition, this position will assist in training and on-boarding activities for new staff.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



Education:   A Doctorate degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.


Experience: Required for certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board.


Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Medical Corpsman and Physicians classifications or Nursing or Physician and Medical Services and Special Corpsman Officer specialty codes in the medicine field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.



DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



The desired candidate should possess:


  • Experience working in a crisis stabilization setting

  • Experience providing withdrawal management services for all substances

  • Experience providing medical screening at triage for the presence of any condition of sufficient severity to require transfer to an appropriate facility for immediate medical or surgical care




LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS



1. Applicants  for this classification must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.


2. Applicants for this classification must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of the current license must be attached to the application.



SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS



Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
