Position Summary

As a key member of the Global Marketing Organization Team, the Clinical Specialist assists with clinical activities under the direction of the Senior Director including, but are not limited to:  User need collection and design validation, clinical and laboratory studies, health care provider consultant management, clinical review of promotional and training materials, business development clinical diligence and clinical support to customers in collaboration with the commercial team.  


 


This position will provide clinical expertise, conduct and support evaluation of new product throughout the new product development process. At times this position will be called upon for speaking engagements and education related activities in the field as well. This position will support the commercial team in a variety customer related activities including but not limited to customer trials of clinical portfolio, customer training, customer presentations, etc.. as requested by the commercial team.  This position will be collaborate with team members to conduct Voice of Customer activities in support of multiple projects throughout the new product development process working closely with R & D.


 


This is a hybrid position based in Mentor, OH.


This position requires approximately 40% domestic travel.


Duties


  • Develops and coordinates, in collaboration with project teams and under the supervision of director, user need collection & clinical validation throughout the new product development process:

    • Assists with development of user needs in collaboration with marketing and R & D for NPD.  Assists R & D with any clinical input to validation protocols and procedures.

    • Assists PM’s and R & D with user need collection plans.

    • Supports timely execution of the approved user needs collections plan – in addition, may directly perform user needs collection and development with other Marketing and R & D personnel. 

    • Develops and supports development of clinical validation plan and protocols in collaboration with marketing and R & D teams as needed.

    • Timely execution of the approved clinical validation plan – directly performing clinical validation activities with other Marketing and R&D personnel

    • Develops and assembles presentations on a variety of clinical topics.

    • Assists with report out of user need outputs during each new product development gate review

    • Maintains active communication with all global cross-functional partners throughout the process



  • Clinical and laboratory studies:

    • Assists with identification and execution of commercially relevant and important studies for existing product and those within the new product development process

    • Identifies and presents a preferred, detailed approach (clinical or laboratory) to develop product support data for budgetary approval to director.

    • Assists with the management of all active studies; assembling and presenting findings to the director when key milestones are achieved.  

    • Works collaboratively with Marketing Communications and Sales Training to ensure timely and accurate delivery of study outcomes

    • Aggregates and provides training on any existing clinical evidence for all products both internally developed and distributed by STERIS.



  • Manage healthcare provider relationships:

    • Assist with development and execution of plan to increase direct relationships with the appropriate global cross-section of healthcare providers:  including both informal interaction, ad hoc feedback and long-term consultants

    • Assist with the management of consultant annualized needs assessment and ongoing payments for work completed under the direction of the director.



  • Act as clinical reviewer of promotional and training materials

  • Provide clinical input, as needed, when significant quality issues and / or complaints have been identified

  • Perform clinical diligence:

    • Performs ongoing market scan to identify potential technology targets – for review by director.

    • During the diligence phase, leads clinical efficacy assessment



  • Prepares and provides Clinical education to internal stakeholders including sales training, marketing training, R & D training.

    • Work with sales training team to develop relevant clinical education for commercial team.

    • Act as a clinical reviewer of material created by sales training team 

    • Provide clinical training as requested for other stakeholders.



  • Assist with trade show preparation and activities as needed.

    • Develop content and conduct in-booth education 



  • Provides clinical evaluation and participates in risk management activities as requested by regulatory and other stakeholders.

  • Coordinates customer education events in collaboration with the CSC and the marketing team.

  • Manages the CE process for both live events, webinars, and other platforms.

  • Assists with the procedural portfolio both up and down stream.

    • Works closely with product manager and business development to assess and provide clinical input for the addition of products into the portfolio 

    • Provides evidence and experience based  clinical input to the business plan for any new product.

    • Works with the commercial team to assist with customer trials, demonstrations, and other customer interactions as requested by the commercial team.

    • Assists the sales training team and the product managers with the development of clinical educational content.




Required Experience


  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Science

  • 5 years clinical experience within the operating room environment required

  • Active RN license required

  • Surgical clinical leadership experience preferred
