Job Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for facilitating and leading continuous improvement projects at GFO, that drive total cost savings (i.e. labor, material, yield, etc.). This includes meeting with internal collaborators and process owners to help identify new areas of opportunity, and develop project plans to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. They will support the site strategic plan of replicating the BD Production System (BD Excellence) across the remaining value streams. The primary function of the CI Engineer is to help identify, lead or support CI projects to implement solutions for root causes, and ensure annual plant goals are achieved through the elimination of top waste loss categories. This role will report to the Continuous Improvement Business Excellence Manager.
Job Responsibilities: (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)
Creates and leads projects to help operation teams improve production flow and eliminate waste.
Facilitates rapid Continuous Improvement events (Kaizen) in an area, engaging various partners and production floor associates.
Conduct regular audits of daily startup Tier meetings and Gemba Walks.
Lead medium to large capital expense CI projects.
Facilitate or co-facilitate BD Excellence review meetings.
Identify and create Standard Processes throughout the facility.

Education and Experience:
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical field of study or
Minimum of five (5) years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
Relevant CI experience in manufacturing implementing cost improvements.
Relevant Project Management, Value Stream Leader, Production Leader, Quality Specialist or Change Management related experiences.
Hands on experience demonstrating various problem-solving methods, tools and conducting root cause analysis.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and consulting skills.
Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
Advanced understanding of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
Basic knowledge of ERP systems for data extraction (i.e. SAP, JDE, etc.).
Proven ability to manage numerous projects to completion on time and within budget.
Flexible in responding to changing demands and priorities, comfortable working in a fast-paced matrix environment.
Demonstrated leadership experience in leading teams without direct authority.
Able to work effectively with all levels in an organization.
Must have a growth mindset to adapt to new information and takeaways.
Customer focus, innovative, results oriented.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:
Production layout & space optimization, capacity analysis and material flow systems experience.
Understanding of BD’s business environment is desirable.
Training Requirements:
On-the-job, SOP’s required for position, including GMP.
Physical Demands:
Ability to safely perform area-specific gowning procedures. These may include but are not limited to: Donning a smock with zippers and/or snaps, sitting or standing (with a safety bar) to apply shoe covers over the top of shoes, applying gloves, walking over or around benches in the transition area, and bending, stooping, and reaching motions.
Ability to lift and move 35 lbs. (over 35 lbs. with assistance).
Ability to utilize all area-specific PPE including but not limited to: eye protection, respiratory protection and hearing protection as required.
Work Environment:
General office and medical device manufacturing environment. May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes. Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.). Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be maintained by the associate.

Salary Range Information
$73,300.00 - $121,000.00 USD Annual
