Job overview

Further to the development of the North East North Cumbria Single Point of Access Pathway for all spines we have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist to join the TIMS service as spinal pathway lead and clinical specialist. 

You will be working in TIMS and as part of a clinical team across primary and secondary care to provide a physio fronted comprehensive service for the assessment, diagnosis and non-surgical management of highly complex patients within the spinal pathway.

The successful applicant will maintain a specialist physiotherapy caseload and act as a source of expertise on the non-surgical management of highly complex patients within the pathway and provide an advisory service to patients, senior physiotherapists, GPs, consultants and other health care professionals in primary and secondary care. You will be expected to contribute to evaluation, treatment and research within the service. 

You will be required to have a degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy, State Registration with Health and Care Professions Council and hold or be willing to work towards a post grad diploma or Master’s degree. You will have extensive post graduate experience including as an advanced Physiotherapist in Spinal Musculoskeletal Services with experience of integrating evidence based guidelines into clinical practice. Also, evidence of ongoing accredited CPD in specialist area including relevant post graduate courses.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Working in TIMS and as part of the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons clinical team to provide a physio fronted comprehensive service for the assessment, diagnosis and non-surgical management of highly complex patients within the pathway 
  • Maintain a clinical caseload of highly complex patients within the pathway.
  • Act as a source of expertise on the non-surgical management of highly complex patients within the pathway and provide an advisory service to patients, senior physiotherapists, GPs, consultants and other health care professionals in primary and secondary care
