A Day in the Life

We are seeking a committed professional to join our team. While this is a remote position not located at a physical Medtronic site, the candidate hired will be required to reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts throughout the region. A valid driver's license is essential for this role.

The Patient Access Liaison (PAL) plays a vital role in ensuring patients experience a seamless journey to care. This role focuses on supporting patients through key access steps, removing barriers that could delay therapy, and maintaining visibility into their progress. By partnering across field and internal teams and with customers in-person and remotely, the PAL helps ensure that patients receive timely access to Medtronic’s spinal cord stimulation (SCS), targeted drug delivery (TDD), and interventional pain therapies—while upholding the highest standards of compliance and patient privacy.

This is a field-based position. We are seeking a committed professional to join our team, required to reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts throughout the region. A valid driver's license is essential for this role, which also includes travel outside the territory, presenting opportunities for broader engagement.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Pipeline Management & Tracking

    • Monitor patient candidates as they progress through each step of the care pathway, checking-in with them as appropriate and communicating patient access needs to appropriate Medtronic personnel

    • Inform local field teams and customers about important patient milestones and access challenges, and provide support in resolving barriers as appropriate

    • Maintain comprehensive and current patient pipeline data in Salesforce for a sales district to provide clear visibility into the patient journey

    • Prepare regular reports on key metrics for review with sales teams and customers, as appropriate

  • Coordination & Liaison Activities

    • Serve as dedicated district representative and liaison for Medtronic’s prior authorization portal

    • Work with patients and account-based access specialists to help patients move through the care continuum

  • Patient Engagement

    • Support patient education through phone or digital outreach, ensuring patients receive necessary information prior to office visits, and coordinate with the field team if in-person education is required

    • Follow up with patients after their SCS-trial phase to discuss next steps, ensuring they are informed about their options and encouraged to consult their healthcare provider regarding questions or additional therapies as appropriate

  • Operational Excellence & Data Integrity

    • Maintain real-time, accurate pipeline visibility for district/regional leadership

    • Support initiatives that enhance access to patient milestone data throughout the care pathway

    • Uphold highest standards of data integrity and patient privacy, including compliance with HIPAA and Business Associate Agreement (BAA) requirements when applicable

    • Maintains knowledge of Neuromodulation products and services: past, present, and future

    • Actively participate in process improvement efforts

    • Must complete all required trainings on time

Qualifications
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience in healthcare access (ie., prior authorization, patient support, case management, practice operations, and utilization review)

  • Demonstrated understanding of patient access dynamics, payer requirements, and medical necessity frameworks

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Strong commitment to delivering results with ethics and integrity

  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Nice to Have:

  • Clinical credentials or background (e.g., RN, LPN, MA) and/or experience working with patients and providers

  • Prior experience directly supporting SCS, TDD, or interventional pain therapies and/or working with Interventional Pain Management physicians

  • Strong analytical mindset—capable of tracking metrics and proposing data-driven improvements

  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to thrive in a matrixed, field-based environment

  • Familiarity with Medtronic policies and compliance procedures around practice engagement

Must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy. In addition, your driving record will be reviewed and will be considered as part of your application. Must be able to drive approximately 50% of the time within assigned territory and may require overnight travel.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):64000-96000

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals.
