Responsibilities may include providing input on clinical trial design and Real-World Evidence (RWE) generation and communication.
Works closely with the other functions within the Market Access team to support the development of evidence that will improve the understanding of the treatment of diabetes and will demonstrate the value of Medtronic’s extensive diabetes device profile. The data generated should inform strategic internal decisions as well.
Develops HTA submission documents to meet requirements for optimal reimbursement, coverage, and utilization. Collaborates closely with regional Health Economics, Policy and Reimbursement (HEPR) teams to identify Canadian or Latin American specific evidence needs and synergies.
Supports the design and implementation of observational and economic research studies or economic models including cost-effectiveness, cost-utility and budget impact models. These materials should provide value, perspective and evidence for clinical and/or pre-clinical product portfolio decisions, marketing, regulatory agency submissions (HTA), and product reimbursement strategies.
Conduct both systematic and targeted literature searches that will be foundational to the development of value dossiers suitable for HTA submissions in Canada and Latin America.
Compares and evaluates the value of Medtronic’s products and therapies versus the other products in the market basket with respect to the clinical, economic, and outcomes data from clinical trials and Real-World Evidence (RWE) studies including, epidemiology studies, registries, observational studies, payer pilots, cost-effectiveness modeling, surveys, and meta-analyses.
Collaborates with the Clinical Development team to ensure that an integrated evidence plan including RWE is available to support country approval and reimbursement.
Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the evidence needed to inform government agencies in Canada and Latin America to secure reimbursement.
Prepares observational and economic research study results for dissemination via abstracts, presentations, and/or peer-reviewed publications.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of relevant experience in the healthcare industry
Or
Master’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in the healthcare industry
Nice To Have
Degree in PharmD, Master’s degree, or PhD in epidemiology, health economics, biostatistics, public health
An understanding of the HTA systems in Canada and Latin America
Experience securing reimbursement for devices and/or pharmaceuticals in Canada or Latin American Countries.
Ability to collaborate closely with Medtronic MiniMed HEPR experts in Canada and Latin America
Fluency in English required, proficiency in Spanish an asset
Project management experience; demonstrated consultative mindset
Proven ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization
Proven relationship-building and maintaining skills with internal and external stakeholders including physicians, payers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to communicate complex analytical techniques in a way that is understandable by non-quantitative audiences
Postgraduate training or experience in health economics, health policy, epidemiology or health services research
Experience working with administrative claims data
Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industry
Proficiency programming using statistical software (e.g. SAS, R, etc.)
Strong quantitative skills, preferably with training in econometrics or statistics
Experience in the analysis, synthesis, and presentation of complex data from multiple sources
