The Medtronic Regulatory Affairs team is seeking a dynamic and experienced communications professional to join our Clinical Research, Medical Science, and Regulatory Affairs organization. As a Principal Communications Generalist, you will collaborate with leadership, the strategy and policy team, and cross-functional partners to develop and deliver communications that advance the vision and strategy of the Regulatory function. In this role, you’ll lead diverse, high-impact projects and partner with stakeholders across Medtronic to ensure clear, consistent, and compelling messaging.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Leads communication execution and works across the matrix to gather the necessary information for content creation, adapts the messaging to create visually engaging and impactful presentations to effectively convey the information to the intended audience (including internal and external audiences).
Leads strategies and produces content to help align the organization's goals in support of greater employee engagement and business impact.
Responsible for planning, storytelling, writing and editing to persuade, educate and inspire internal and external audiences to further the team’s goals relating to regulatory advocacy and policy and regulatory education (ex. writing session proposals).
Supports senior leadership in communicating key change initiatives, policy changes and other company information to employees, including in creating an impactful communication strategy and deploying the information through various communication channels (e.g., newsletters, Yammer, email, presentations).
Supports the effectiveness of senior leadership interactions, by creating content for impactful presentations and written communications intended for different audiences.
Creation and maintenance of well-organized and visually engaging repository of presentations and resources for easy accessibility by key stakeholders.
Supports cascade from CMRA communications strategy and governance activities to ensure strong departmental, operational, and functional health, including planning and preparation of communications, sometimes of a sensitive nature.
Handles the creation and implementation of multiple forms of internal strategic communication activities, programs and content guided by the Medtronic Mission and overall business strategy.
As required, may possess strong change management communications capabilities and understanding of organizational dynamics and social psychology
Oversees the merged responsibility of both internal and external communications planning and execution in a single role or group
Directly manages communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's reputation to both internal and external audiences
Advances the company narrative to media and other external audiences as defined, which may involve the strategic conceptualization and execution of creative (PR) campaigns
Handles the creation and implementation of multiple forms of internal strategic communication activities, programs and content guided by the Medtronic Mission and overall business strategy
Oversees and executes the writing, editing and approval of event scripts, speeches, key documents and reports, promotional materials, press releases, interviews, FAQs, and other external and internal communications vehicles as defined
Supports senior leadership in communicating to external and internal audiences
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
7+ years of internal and external communications experience with a bachelor’s degree (or 5+ years with an advanced degree)
Nice to Have
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.) and Adobe or other creative software
Experience preparing PPT and communications for senior leadership and other stakeholders
Advanced knowledge and experience with digital media
Excellent communication, writing and editing; proven storyteller capable of creating compelling narratives and impactful visuals
Ability to adjust messages and content for a variety of audiences
Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to collaborate effectively
High level of attention to detail and creative mindset
Highly proactive, able to work independently, and motivated to perform at a high-level with little supervision
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Experience working on fast-paced, geographically dispersed teams
Ability to multi-task and adapt to evolving priorities
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related discipline
Experience in the healthcare industry (e.g., medical device, pharma, hospital, biotech)
Experience with global regulatory requirements
Experience with medical device industry groups
