A Day in the Life

The Principal Training and Education Specialist will develop and execute Pelvic Health (PH) new-hire sales training and on-going field development programs. Programs will support the goals and strategies of the PH Marketing department and the PH Sales organization.

This position requires effective interaction and communication with the Director of Training and Development, Field Sales Leaders, Marketing, and other internal functional partners to develop and execute Sales and Marketing strategies, effective messaging, therapy excellence, and product launches to enhance business performance for all PH therapies and initiatives.

The Principal Training and Education Specialist will design, develop, evaluate, implement deliverables, and make course corrections as appropriate, leading to improved or enhanced field performance. In addition, will identify opportunities, barriers and/or challenges facing the field sales force. The Principal Training and Education Specialist is also responsible for training field reps on the consultative selling and territory business planning processes as well as competitive key messaging and strategy.

Our ideal candidate will reside in Minneapolis, working 4 days in the office. This role will include 25-30% travel.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Deliver the flawless execution of internal classroom training and support field pull-through to maximize the classroom learning experience

  • Manage the development and execution of device and therapy training to support marketing and sales strategies, ensuring compliance with MDT regulatory and quality requirements

  • Work with the RDs and DMs to implement pull-through strategies and measure outcomes

  • Develop and implement training project plans that enable others to achieve and complete specific tasks with excellence

  • Build working relationships with DMs and high performing Sales Representatives to design, develop, and deliver best practice educational programs to support strategic business goals

  • Support business objectives by collaborating with functional business partners to assess the current status of the business, identify areas of opportunity and develop solutions to improve/enhance sales performance

  • Collaborate with cross functional groups including Field Sales Management, Marketing, Medical Education, Marketing Communications, Customer Service, Technical Services, Patient Services, Legal, Clinical, and Regulatory to create field sales programs that support Operating Unit (OU) strategies and are fully compliant with Medtronic Regulatory and Business Conduct Standards

  • Partner with Marketing to analyze competitive intelligence and develop sales training activities and strategies

  • Design sales training for product launches, initiatives, and programs

  • Maintain and enhance disease state, therapy, and device knowledge for PH therapies & products

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 7+ years of professional experience in sales, marketing, clinical, or training roles, or 5+ years of professional experience with a Master’s degree

Nice to Have

  • Experience in developing and facilitating sales training programs

  • Field experience as a sales professional

  • Expertise with anatomy, medical terminology, and Pelvic Health surgical procedures

  • Excellent written communication skills, presentation skills, and PowerPoint skills

  • Ability to design training plans, detailed schedules, and project plans

  • Ability to project manage multiple projects and workstreams at one time

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable responding rapidly to the changing needs of the business

  • Takes initiative with a can-do attitude and builds new content with speed and decisiveness

  • Ability to provide developmental coaching and feedback to employees

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$109,600.00 - $164,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
