A Day in the Life

This position supports the design and development of new products and product improvements. Responsibilities will also include developing, implementing, and improving Quality Management System (QMS) procedures. Also supports project planning and project management. Provides engineering and technical support to other functional areas of the company as required.

Travel requirement: Less than 10%

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides engineering support for new product design and development, existing product modifications, process design, and performance evaluation.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
  • Develops and tests prototypes based on design specifications, defines processes to properly manufacture and assemble the product, and optimizes the manufacturing process.
  • Develops product and process verification and validation, test protocols, and reports in compliance with design control requirements.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Support updates and improvements to QMS procedures.
  • Evaluate the impact of external standard changes on products and their DHFs.
  • Leverage knowledge of Risk Management, Regulations, and Procedures to ensure continued product compliance.
  • Provides test reports, drawings, and other requirements to the RA necessary for preparing regulatory notifications and submissions 510(k)s and PMAs for domestic and international approvals as required.
  • Determines realistic start and finish dates for action items imperative to project completion on the project schedule and submits to the project team leader. Updates project schedule as required.
  • Identify areas for improvement in manufacturing, lab tooling, and technical processes across all project phases and recommend changes to the appropriate management. Provides production line support when required.
  • Provides technical training for appropriate Lab and Production personnel as appropriate.
  • Reviews appropriate technical literature for the necessary background on specific assignments.
  • All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.
  • Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health, and safety-related site rules, policies, or government regulations.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 2+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree.
  • Familiar with working in an ISO 13485 and FDA-regulated environment
  • Experienced in QMS procedures, regulations, and standards.
  • Experience with Risk Management
  • Experience with material selection.
  • Understanding and application of statistical methods
  • Experience with data acquisition and statistical analysis software
  • Experience with projects from concept to completion. Experience with the design of mechanical and/or electromechanical devices.
  • Experience developing test methods, test execution, and report writing.
  • Experience with computer software: MS Office, ProEngineer, etc.
  • Basic understanding of statistical methods

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$83,200.00 - $124,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
