This job can be based out of our Mounds View, Minnesota office or one of our Orange County, California offices.

A Day in the Life

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Director of Market Development to lead the strategic development and execution of market development in Structural Heart. The perfect candidate for this role is mission driven and will continue to build and scale our direct to patient campaign and patient advocacy efforts, referral marketing, and program development efforts to break down barriers and drive patient access to our therapy. This role will also lead the development of our strategies for the launch of our biggest growth driver in the TAVR market in the next 2-3 years – the indication launch and market expansion into moderate AS. The Senior Director of Market Development will achieve these results by:

  • Driving commercial execution and scaling of our market development initiatives through her/his team of direct reports and globally through our regional market development teams

  • Establishing a comprehensive strategy for the launch of the moderate AS indication, including the incorporation of an AI technology partnership to complement the market expansion

  • Enhance digital marketing and AI capabilities on the market development team

  • Leading, developing, and building a high-performing team

The Senior Director will also be a key member of the Global Commercial Marketing leadership team and will work with all stakeholders on the team to be the voice of the market development team.

1. Develop and implement market development strategies to break down market barriers and drive patient access globally

  • Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive commercial market development plan that identifies and addresses barriers to patient access to our technology

  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive dynamics to identify opportunities and shape strategic direction of the team’s initiatives.

  • Guide development of messaging and value propositions tailored to target audiences, including healthcare providers and patients. Align messaging across the various functions on the marketing team to ensure alignment across the various stakeholders in the patient pathway

2. Lead Scaling of our Direct to Patient & General Cardiology campaigns

  • Lead the creation of omni channel, targeted campaigns to scale our reach and influence with both patients and referral physicians

  • Grow our women’s heart health initiatives to increase their impact on the diagnosis and treatment of women with aortic stenosis

  • Launch SH first patient call center

  • Lead field market development team to scale organizational capacity and capabilities to develop and optimize the patient care pathway with our Heart Team customers

  • Develop KPIs and metrics to show impact of increasing patient access and program efficiency

4. Team Leadership and Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing market development team

  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to team members, ensuring continuous growth and skill enhancement.

  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and serve as a role model for Medtronic’s values and leadership principles.

  • Enhance digital marketing and AI capabilities / know-how on the market development team

5. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patient advocacy organizations, society liaisons, agency partners, and women’s heart health influencers to enhance our initiatives and our influence in the market

  • Partner with the US sales team and Global partners to deliver effective tools and materials that drive stakeholder engagement and therapy adoption.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal guidelines and company policies in all marketing activities.

Must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred.

  • 15+ (13+ with a graduate degree) years of experience in marketing, with at least 8 years in a leadership role

  • Digital marketing experience.

Nice to have:

  • Strong business acumen

  • Proven record of accomplishment of developing and executing successful commercial plans for new therapies or medical technologies.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare markets, including reimbursement, regulatory, and clinical landscapes.

  • Embrace innovative technologies and strategies to enhance customer engagement and marketing effectiveness, leveraging data analytics, performance metrics, and customer insights to inform strategic planning.

  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing and developing commercial teams. Demonstrated ability to inspire teams.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project management abilities.

  • Mission-driven passion for driving innovation and improving patient outcomes for SH business.

  • Focused on achieving measurable outcomes and driving market growth.

  • Experience in Structural heart

Ability to travel: 30%

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$218,400.00 - $327,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
