The Senior Finance Director is responsible for providing financial leadership and strategic insights to the Cardiac Pacing Therapies (CPT) business (~$2+ billion) and has responsibility for financial support of CRM Clinical and Medical Affairs functions. Reporting directly to the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Finance Director will serve as the main business partner for the CPT General Manager and the CPT leadership team, while overseeing the finance employee providing direct business partnering to the Chief Medical Officer who leads Clinical & Medical Affairs.

This role manages a high performing team and is responsible for delivering on the worldwide revenue targets along with gross margin and operating profit. Additionally, you are a critical team member in establishing the 5 and 10 year strategic forecasts, building and delivering financial portfolio models, informing strategic decisions through financials, analytics, and market insights, and partnering with CPT leadership team to advance and execute on critical priorities.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead business Revenue forecasting - In close partnership with the CPT GM and the broader CRM organization, inform and manage complex financial models to deliver both short- and long-range forecasts with ability to deliver scenario plan ‘what if’ analysis. Ensure accountability and forecasting accuracy through the IBP cycles for CPT.

  • Provide business Insights to drive growth – A trusted partner to the CPT GM who both challenges and supports the leader with sound financial council by applying strategic thinking and financial analytics to provided business insights, challenge business assumptions, drive fact-based decision making and enabled growth in both revenue and operating income.

  • Inform Portfolio Financials and Valuations – Look after all aspects of research & development decision making, business case development, financial performance & reporting, and financial controls. Deliver useful business insights through advanced analytics and ensure aligned with the strategic plan from both a business and regional perspective. Ensure plans are established to deliver on gross margin expansion objectives.

  • Develop and Manage Operational Financial Forecasts – Lead the AOP and quarterly forecast process for the CPT business operating overhead spending, tying financial funding to business strategy and return, performing variance analysis, and leading trade-off decisions.

  • Provide business insights to support S&OE decisions – Partner with CPT GM, CPT Operations and CPT Marketing to assess forecast accuracy from the regional supply roll ups and complete allocation analysis during supply challenges.

  • Optimize team performance and cross-functional partnerships – Enables team to pursue possibilities that will create sustainable value and quality outcomes. Empowering the team with meaningful decision making and ownership. Creates a culture that emphasizes ongoing learning and development and encourages others to seek and learn from diverse perspectives. Focuses on driving continuous improvement and quality outcomes.

  • Clinical and Med Ed – Lead the AOP and quarterly forecast process for the CRM Clinical and Medical Education function. Provide financial performance & reporting support for month and quarter end cycles, including review of clinical program spending accruals. Support clinical business strategy by providing financial analysis and lead trade-off decision making for funding prioritization.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 15+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (Or Advanced Degree with 13+ years) plus 10+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance

  • CPA, CMA, and/or MBA

  • Global Experience working in industry operating outside of United States

  • Medical Device, Healthcare or Pharma Industry experience

  • Transformation Experience

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$203,200.00 - $304,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
