A Day in the Life

The Senior Project Manager serves as the primary point of accountability for both internal and external stakeholders across a range of customer-facing projects within Acute Care & Monitoring. This role is responsible for leading the application of the Integrated Solution Delivery Model to ensure successful healthcare implementation outcomes.

Drawing on a strong foundation in project management, technical expertise, and business acumen, the Senior Project Manager will guide and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders. They will champion best practices, foster effective communication, and drive high levels of customer adoption and solution success.

Throughout each implementation, the Senior Project Manager will collaborate closely with internal clinical and technical leads, service engineers, leadership, and external clinical and technical partners to coordinate and execute all activities critical to project success.

Project Management Leadership and Accountability

  • Holds full accountability for the successful delivery of customer outcomes by applying best practices in project organization, stakeholder engagement, benefits realization, risk and issue management, planning and control, change management, and quality assurance.

  • Oversees the operational execution of assigned projects, acting as the primary liaison among external clients, internal project teams, sales, clinical product specialists, and line management.

  • Leads and coordinates one or more cross-regional project teams, ensuring alignment and progress across all workstreams.

  • Serves as the main point of contact for external clients, managing project scope, scheduling and facilitating communications, coordinating clinical and technical requirements, and guiding the project through planning, training, execution, and go-live phases.

  • Provides strategic technical and analytical insights to leadership and governance bodies to support informed decision-making.

  • Ensures all project documentation is properly maintained, stored, and shared with relevant team members to support ongoing customer needs.

  • Develops and maintains comprehensive project plans, meeting documentation, and progress reports to track all technical and clinical project activities.

  • Monitors project performance using defined metrics and tools to ensure alignment with goals and timelines.

  • Facilitates collaboration across internal and external clinical and technical teams, ensuring all requirements and outcomes are documented and met.

  • Communicates significant project impacts and account health updates to internal and external stakeholders in a timely and transparent manner.

  • Leads and facilitates project kick-offs and milestone meetings, both onsite and remotely, in accordance with established methodologies.

  • Ensures the completion and proper archiving of all project deliverables and documentation in approved repositories.

Risk Mitigation and Issue Resolution

  • Proactively manages risks across all project dimensions to minimize disruptions and ensure strong customer adoption.

  • Maintains control over project constraints—scope, cost, schedule, and measurable outcomes—to ensure successful delivery.

  • Identifies and resolves project issues promptly to meet productivity, quality, and client satisfaction goals.

  • Escalates critical risks and issues to leadership as appropriate, ensuring transparency and timely intervention.

Operational Improvements

  • Stays current with advancements in project management methodologies and contributes to the continuous improvement of service delivery practices.

  • Oversees all phases of the project lifecycle—from intake through implementation and closure—ensuring alignment with Implementation Services best practices and policies.

  • Ensures full compliance with all corporate, IT, and customer-specific policies and standards, including those of Medtronic.

Professional Requirements

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and accountability for project outcomes.

  • PMP or equivalent industry certification preferred.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels, including executive leadership.

  • Capable of managing multiple complex projects while aligning with broader organizational goals.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Skilled in influencing cross-functional and external teams toward shared goals.

  • Offers strategic insights and recommendations to support diverse stakeholder needs.

  • Willing to travel occasionally for strategic and complex customer engagements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Healthcare IT or SaaS project management and implementation, either as a vendor or in a related consulting role.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$104,000.00 - $156,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
