The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL (Lake Bluff, IL) location in the Transfusion Medicine business. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

As the Senior Project Manager, you’ll manage the development and implementation process of company's products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products. Expedite, manage, and coordinate a multitude of interrelated activities within constraints of limited human, time and financial resources and changing priorities. Complies with business unite quality system.

What You’ll Work On

  • Formulates, harmonizes and consolidates project scopes, plans, strategies, and budgets for one or more projects, working closely with functional Project Managers and other Subject Matter Experts from R&D, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and other functions.

  • Confirms the ongoing strategic rationale and value proposition for projects.

  • Leads project planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of projects.

  • Ensures Division-wide thinking and problem-solving are incorporated into project execution.

  • Drives for resolution in cross-functional problem solving, communication, and integration.

  • Liaises with other Product Owners, functional managers, and management to prioritize activities across programs to balance resource availability, program deliverables and schedule, and business needs.

  • Executes programs to completion and assures successful market entry, or makes a timely recommendation to Management to terminate a program if required by technical, commercial or other developments that may result in project failure if not resolved through creative problem solving.

  • Identifies areas for process improvement, and defines and implements solutions, liaising with other stakeholders such as Project Owners, functional managers and senior management as appropriate.

  • Ensures that the cross-functional members work as a “team” focused on business unit goals identified and managing program and solution interdependencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Minimum 8 years relevant experience related to function.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has successfully led at least two projects from beginning to end.

  • Demonstrated technical skills and management judgment.

  • Demonstrated skills in project management tools and processes, including Microsoft Office applications.

  • Continuous improvement mindset.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Coordinate input from multiple areas or multiple project managers on related projects or sub-projects.

  • PMP Certification and Six Sigma Certification is highly preferred.

The base pay for this position is

$111,300.00 – $222,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
