A Day in the Life

Position Location: This is an onsite position with a minimum requirement of four days per week at our Rice Creek East facility.

We are looking for a Sr. Program Manager to join our Neuromodulation – DBS team.

The Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Core Team Leader (CTL) is a cross-functional business leader responsible for driving decision-making and execution within development projects. They are accountable for the management direction of all phases of design and development of new medical device systems, software, and user experience from product definition through development, manufacturing process characterization, production ramp, and global commercialization.

Responsibilities

You will be accountable for the full lifecycle of projects, starting with forming high-performing teams that ensure the successful and predictable delivery of solutions for commercial release. Additionally, you will guide cross-functional Core Team members to foster collaboration and cross-functional effectiveness. You will be the key champion in overcoming barriers, driving decisions, and cultivating a culture of empowerment across the organization.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Drive cross-functional core team and work directly with functional leaders, regional leaders, and extended teams to ensure clear communication of program objectives, deliverables, and timing of key milestones.
  • Plan and maintain program resourcing, schedule, and budget, including working across design and manufacturing sites to ensure appropriate skillsets are available.
  • Manage daily execution of the program, leading team members to execute on-time, on-budget, within scope project completion, while managing stakeholder and business expectations.
  • Use program management tools including critical path tasks, project schedules, work breakdown, and tracking tools to manage project risks, monthly spend, and activities.
  • Lead team culture and effectiveness, including defining roles and responsibilities, team norms, recognition, onboarding, and decision-making processes.
  • Understand applicable product standards and procedures to plan for required regulatory deliverables.
  • Maintain regular communication with the DBS Therapy Director and functional leadership to ensure issues are resolved and alignment of priorities are clear to maintain schedule milestones and adhere to expense and capital allocation.
  • Proactively ensure product performance meets customer needs, seeking independent input and review as needed to control risk and ensure a successful product launch.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills as a leader of cross-functional teams through the intricate details of development projects; from scope definition, cost management to schedule development and risk management.
  • Regular communication with the Neuromodulation leadership team through program updates and program review committee discussions.
  • Mentor team members to ensure each team member is fully engaged and contributing to project success.
  • Champion product development best practices such as collecting high-quality Voice of Customer inputs, early risk burn-down, and design for manufacturability.
  • Deliver results with uncompromising quality, integrity, and ethics.
  • 25% or less domestic travel.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

To Be Successful in This Role

  • Medical device industry experience, including new product development, released product management, DRM, clinical assessments, and regulatory submissions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional and cross-regional teams in a matrixed organization, developing collaborative relationships.
  • Experience working with global manufacturing sites on assessment and implementation of design changes.
  • Demonstrated experience with program management practices, including facilitating team meetings, creating and delivering presentations, risk-based decision-making, and driving meetings to action-oriented decisions.

Nice to Have: Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in engineering or scientific field or MBA degree.

  • Strong communication skills, written, verbal, and listening, with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Identifies, manages, resolves, and escalates issues in a proactive, creative, and timely fashion.
  • Results-oriented. Demonstrated ability to drive programs to completion in adherence to aggressive project schedules and budgets.
  • Enthusiasm towards process improvements and change management.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$170,400.00 - $255,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
